In the event of damage or an accident, you should follow the correct procedure to claim your car insurance.
- Inform the Insurance Company: It is essential to intimate the insurance company as soon as the accident occurs. In the case of an accident involving a third party, you will also need to file an FIR with the police. Your insurance provider will guide you through the forms and documentation required to file an insurance claim for your car.
- Get the car inspected by the Insurance Company: Once the claim process is initiated, your insurance provider will assess the damages on the car and prepare a report. This report is shared with the insurance company and you. Based on this, your insurance company will advise you to get the car repaired at one of their network garages.
- Submit documents to the Insurance Company: You will be require to submit a copy of your insurance policy, copy of your driver's licence, copy of your car's Registration Certificate (RC), the required claim form, the original repair bill, an FIR from the police, and any medical bills for injuries caused due to the accident. These documents are required to verify your car insurance claim.
- Claim cashless settlement: In case of a cashless claim, you will be required to take your car to the recommended network workshop to repair your car. The cost of the repair will be directly settled by the insurance company.
- Claim reimbursement settlement: In case of a reimbursement claim, you will be required to pay for the cost of the repair at the workshop. The insurance company will then reimburse the cost of the repair in accordance with the terms of your insurance policy.
